Their Ultimate 3E shows up as two controllers in Steam in XInput mode, so each button press registers twice and menus become unusable.

A latency-sensitive, d-pad-picky player who has tried most popular controllers says the 8BitDo Ultimate 3E is awesome and fixes the original Ultimate's painful ergonomics and latency.
“The Ultimate 3e arrived a little early, and it is indeed awesome!”
A player is underwhelmed by the 8BitDo Ultimate 3E's triggers and price, but its d-pad may be their all-time favourite, better than the Ultimate 2 and Wolverine V3 Pro.
“I'm underwhelmed by the triggers & price, but the dpad might be my all-time favorite.”
Coming from an Elite 2, a player finds the 8BitDo Ultimate 3E's back buttons clean and lovely to use and its sticks great.
“I was worried about the back buttons after coming from an Elite 2 but they feel super clean and lovely to use”
A player finds the 8BitDo Ultimate 3E feels better in the hand than the G7 Pro with a far better d-pad and good latency, and it has replaced their G7 Pro.
“It has a better feel in the hand compared to the G7 Pro. The d-pad is miles better and feels really good.”
A new 8BitDo Ultimate 3E owner found it needed calibration out of the box, with the left stick and gyro off until calibrated and a firmware update applied.
“I found out of the box it definitely needed calibration.”
Really likes the Ultimate 3E, but its Square and Star buttons sit where Xbox View/Menu buttons normally are.
“I finally got my 8BitDo Ultimate 3E Xbox controller. I really like it but there's one glaring flaw”
A week with the 8BitDo Ultimate 3E: very premium feel and a very capable gamepad so far.
“I have been using the 8bitdo ultimate 3e for a week. It has a very premium feel and been a very capable gamepad for the time being.”
Returned the Ultimate 3E: inconsistent software detection, sticks not reaching full tilt, and a fixing firmware update that failed on three PCs.
“At this point, I've spent more time troubleshooting the controller than I should have to spend on something in this price range. I've requested a refund and it's on it's way back.”
Owns the Ultimate 3E and finds it great, though it lacks adjustable stick tension.
“Yeah the 3E does NOT have adjustable stick tension but the cheaper 3 does. I have both and they're both great.”
Owns the Ultimate 3E alongside an Elite 2 and G7 Pro; the 8BitDo feels more refined with swappable face buttons.
“the 8bitdo feels more refined”
Two days with the Ultimate 3E after the G7 Pro: build quality is noticeable instantly, there are lots of accessories, it needs time to configure, and button and stick latency on Xbox is unmatched.
“I have had my 3E for about two days and have had a blast!”
Swapping a G7 Pro for the 3E, comfort alone makes the 3E a clear winner, and its buttons and sticks feel better too.
“3E for just comfort alone is a clear winner, but also the buttons and sticks just feel better.”
They are loving the 3E apart from the price, though its sticks feel more slippery than the Xbox Series, Elite 2 and Wolverine.
“the analog sticks seem more slippery than others I’ve used”
Buying both, they're keeping the Ultimate 3E over the Wolverine V4 Pro: it feels much better and has stronger rumble.
“I ended up getting the wolverine v4 pro and the ultimate 3e, i will return the wolverine, the 3e feels much better and has a stronger rumble”
After returning Elite Series 2 controllers three times, the Ultimate 3E is everything the Elite should have been.
“8bitdo Ultimate 3e - after returning my elite v2 three times for various issues, it's everything the elite should ld have been.”
Their most comfortable and most-used controller, but it has the worst triggers so they skip it for shooters.
“Ultimate 3E is the most comfortable to me so I use it the most, but it also has the worst triggers and I never use for shooters.”
A step down from their Elite 2: the D-pad isn't great and the grip angle pulls their elbows in.
“On paper, this controller should have worked wonderfully with my needs (Xbox series X and Steam Machine user). But in practice, compared to my Xbox Elite 2 controller”
Loves it after an Elite Series 2; only the hair triggers disappoint.
“I love my 3E, that's coming from a series 2. My only complaint is that the hair triggers suck”
Returning it after three hours failing to update it and connect to Xbox.
“I bought one and am returning it. Wasted 3 hours trying to get it to update and gave up.”
Coming from an Elite Series 2, more impressed than expected and keeping it.
“I was much more impressed with the 3E than I was expecting.”
Feels premium and has a great D-pad, but lacks clicky quick triggers.
“This 8bitdo controller is pretty good for me. Feels premium, unlike my vader 5.”
Returned it: good D-pad but not a competitive controller and not more premium than the Elite.
“i returned mine as i was disappointed with it aswell.”
Almost perfect, but the stick travel is too short for FPS aiming.
“got my 8bitdo Ultimate 3E Lavender Dusk recently and I like it overall, almost perfect controller”
Enjoying it after switching over from the G7 Pro.
“i’ve just got the 8bitdo ultimate 3e after using the g7 pro and i’m enjoying it.”
